2012 BMW X5 M (E70) — Approximately 65,000 Miles. Akrapovic Evo full exhaust
Offered for sale is my 2012 BMW X5 M, an increasingly hard-to-find example of BMW’s original high-performance M SUV.
The E70 X5 M was the first X5 to receive the full BMW M treatment, powered by BMW’s 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8 producing 555 horsepower and 500 lb-ft of torque. Even by today’s standards, it is an exceptionally fast and capable SUV, while retaining the hydraulic steering feel and character that make this generation of BMW M vehicles special.
My X5 M has only approximately 65,000 miles and has been enthusiast owned and cared for. Everything works as it should. No mechanical or operational issues. Mostly garage kept until recently.
Recent Maintenance — Approximately $4,000
A major service was recently completed to make sure the vehicle is properly sorted for its next owner, including:
* Complete fluid service/flush
* Cooling system fluid service
* Brake fluid service
* Engine oil and filter service
* New spark plugs
* New ignition coils
Approximately $4,000 has been invested in recent maintenance and preventative service.
Outstanding items: sticky passenger interior door handle, bubbles on drivers door window tint, felt cover came off of retractable roof screen, front brake pads sensor just kicked on.
Condition & History
The X5 M presents extremely well for its age and mileage and has been cared for as an enthusiast vehicle.
The vehicle does have a minor rear-end collision reported in 2019. I want to disclose this upfront rather than have a prospective buyer discover it on the history report. The incident was repaired and has not affected my enjoyment or ownership of the vehicle.
With approximately 65K miles, this is becoming an increasingly uncommon example of the E70-generation X5 M. Many of these vehicles now have well over 100,000 miles, have been heavily modified, or have suffered from deferred maintenance.
Modifications - weather tech mats, ceramic coating, Active Autowerks tune, Akrapovic Evo full exhaust including car less downpipes. The exhaust is the true heart and soul of this vehicle. She sounds amazing (after a 20 second obnoxious cold start). The turbo whistle is perfect.
Why I’m Selling
There is nothing forcing the sale. I recently purchased a newer-generation X5 M, and I’m simply deciding whether it makes sense to keep both.
I believe the E70 X5 M is beginning to develop genuine modern-classic appeal. It represents the beginning of BMW’s M SUV era and combines enormous performance with a distinctly analog feel that newer performance SUVs have largely moved away from.
For that reason, I’m not interested in giving the vehicle away. If it doesn’t bring a reasonable price, I’m perfectly comfortable keeping it.
Serious buyers are welcome. Reasonable offers considered. Inspections and showings are encouraged.
